Evil berseker was my best PC. Theif looks cool though I might try one soon. Bards are
nice too and can be a change from the more "classical" classes especially if you give him an unusual profiency like Halbred(sp?)

Cool

An elven Assassin !!! They're really c00l,but maybe you won't like them if you're the power gamer type as they get a penalty to the thieving skills,but the elven racial bonuses + 19 dex make a solid all around thief at higher levels,and they get x7 backstabb,heh you've just gotta love that

Just imagine the bs multiplier in ToB plus I'll bet with anybody that there will be some "High level ability" poison

I was looking at a halfling assasin. As they get 19 dex as well 18 constitution. You can get a str girdle early on as well. Should I dual wield or what with an assasin?

@HighWatcher Zubie

Yeah,that'll be great!I think that the highest backstabb I got in BG2 was something like 150+ with the Girdle of Frost Giant Str. and Celestial Fury scoring a critical hit.Higher level poison would also be nice,and I wonder why poison doesn't work on ranged weapons?To me it seams perfectly possible for an Assassin to poison a stack of arrows,bolts or darts.

@Irenin

I'd go with single wield as you get -1 to AC,and score criticals on a role of 19,and anyway,as an Assassin,you can only get one point in dual so it's not quite worth it.Get proficient in katana for CF,single weapon style for AC & critical bonus,and shortbows for Gesen.You might also consider daggers as some can also be thrown (Boomerang Dagger & Firetooth) and others have nice abilities for example the Life-Stealer.

I actually roleplayed my lawful evil assassin named Goshan. (which incidentilly won me third ruuner up in Biowares character creation competition) Very fun and ultimately the most enjoyed character I've chosen.

My other favourite is the Archer. Gotta love the ability to hit almost anything three times a round

Yes,Archers are nice too,but I sure hope BioWare implements some +4(or 5) Composite Long Bows that DON'T use arrows in ToB,or at least they could give us Arrows +4,if that exists anyway.I just can't stand having -14 Thac0,almost 5 attacks per round and still not being able to inflict ANY damage to some stupid Adamantite Golem with my Mana Bow +4

Baserker= Frost reaver, Stone Fire, and 3 throwing axes!!! (One of which save vs spell or undead die instantly, great for whupen' arse through Bodie's lair!!!!!)

Go with the fighter man....after ya get through the game a coupla' times they whip arse!

Any one else ever keep a normal weapon on hand for those pesky mages who cast protection from magical weapons? that pisses me off!

That use to bug me a lot too Avenger. However, there aren't too many things that need +3 and above to hit in BG2. Golems yea, but you always have blunt weapons for the Clay ones, and the Iron/Adamantite golems can usually get stuck behind walls and then they are sling of everead fodder

The archer is great against any human/elf/dwarf etc and on the occasions in which +3 weapons are required, the others can take care of.

I made the mistake of thinking that this class would be a one man army like BG1, but it isn't. He/she is a support class and can really help out a great deal. Anywhere between 8 and 20+ hit points per hit. Usually three hits per round. Quite handy.

Just have to know for what situation he's good at.

Stalkers! IMHO the coolest PURE class in the game.
I don't really go for multi or dual classing, I find them cheezy (IMHO)

Pros:
Natural dual wield (2 stars)
Specialize with any weapon
They can sneak/hide
They can backstab !
They can cast druid spells along with haste, protection from normal missles and minor spell deflection
HP, AC and Thac0 comparable to that of a fighter (unlike wimpy thieves!).

Cons
Only limited to studded leather (but there are a lot of good ones)

I like the concept of the stalker because I view him as an "intelligent" fighter. Someone who uses his wits and cunning to his advantage as well as his skills and strength.

Right on Vehemence,he IS a support char after all,but still I'd like to try a solo archer someday (yes,you can call me a masochist ) The "unhurtable" monster problem can be solved by using Short Bows (Gesen) or Slings (Everard)instead of Long Bows,but somehow,from my personal role playing aspect,an Elven Archer should use (Composite) Long Bows and leave the short ones & slings to a halfling thief,so I still hope for some improvement on them in ToB.BTW ever tried using Crossbows with an archer?Heh,damage's even higher than with longbows,especially when using the Crossbow of Affliction +4 or the Giant Hair Crossbow +3.

I couldn't agree more, Avenger! I've wanted to do a solo Archer for quite a while. One of the things stopping me was lack of thieves abilities, ie traps and pick locks.

And I too agree with the longbows vs Shortbows. I always reserve short bows for assassins/thieves or mage multiclasses. An Archer should definitely have himself a nice Longbow Elven court bow just looks so sweet too

[EDIT] had to change archer to assassin/thief... typo

Well,remember that you don't really need all that stuff from locked/trapped chests,and anyway,with a strength girdle and Holy Might(one of the good Bhaal powers) you can bash a lot of them.One more thing about Elven Archers,anyone notice how easy it is to get a REALLY high roll with them?That's because their basic ability score requirements roll up to a 70!On my third try,I rolled a 93 with some decent STR even (18/77),probably could have done even better,but I'm not into power gaming that much,still,I like all my chars to have decent INT & WIS values no matter what class they are

Had to edit some typos,no wonder,it's 5.00 AM here right now!!!I'm out...l8r...
