Weapons do not work?

This is driving me crazy. Every time I fight the ghouls in the circus tent, they somehow manage to make my party members weapons ineffective.
Dose anyone know of a spell that would stop the ghouls from making our weapons unusable. I had to turn the sound off because every time I went in to fight the ghouls all the party members in the game would repeat ably, say “Weapons don’t work!” it is so annoying. Its like shut up already lol I cant beat these guys without weapons, and by the time I do the ole, pause cast spell, pause cast spell gig everybody’s dead.

Certain monsters need magic weapons to hit them.

There are quite a few in the Irenicus dungeon. If you've missed those, you don't have to fight anything in the circus tent, just run up to the top level and concentrate on the ogre mage you meet. All is not as it seems...(insert mysterious music here).

You also might want to check out the auto-pause options.

Go to Options->Game Play->Auto-pause

There's various options there for when to pause the game - including casting a spell. It can be a big help in the more difficult battles.
