Can't say I know what the Sword of Truth actually is. Is it worth reading? What's it about?
BTW, what exactly do you mean by 'opposite alignmen'? Lawful Good to Chaotic Evil seems straightforward enough, but what would something like True Neutral's opposite be? If used in the game I wouldn't like the sound of the -2hp to wielder against non-opposite aligned characters...

If we accept Lawful Good and Chaotic Evil to be opposite then does that mean that Neutral Good and Neutral Evil are opposite (surely their not they share their neutrality)?

The Sword of Truth is a magical sword which will cut through anything and is extreamly devistating but only if the weilder of the sword see his target as wrong. The sword will not cut in anything that the weilder does not see as wrong. When a person is killed by the sword the sword inflicts exteam pian on the weilder unless he had a lot of rage and thought the target deservied it. I used the -2 hp to represent the pain that is inflicted. The novels are very good and are also really deep look into society while still keeping yu interested.

Well, it is straightforward, yes? Lawful-chaotic, good-evil. Nae problems there. Besides, if you read the alignment descriptions you'll see it says something about chaotic evil characters being 'the bane of all that is good and organised', and Lawful Good fits that bill, yeh?

Does it look deep into our society or a fictional one?

The books are very good, although none of them reach the high level attained by the first book in the series "The Wizard's First Rule".

BTW @Red Inquisition... What about the a special function of the sword that acts only when it is used out of love - I can't think of an ability, but it is in the books.

Dude, "Wizard's First Rule" was so awful. Gah. It's like this Terry Goodkind hack decided to see how many fantasy cliches he could fit into one book. Tolkien must be spinning in his grave.

I would also recommend the Terry Goodkind Sword of Truth series.
This is one of the best series I ever read. Much suspense and twists and turns, while still imparting life's insights into human interaction effectively.
