Strongholds

My main character is a thief, and when I encountered Bloodscalp, I didnt complete the mission for him. Actually I just went to the other guild and killed everybody. Bloodscalp didnt like that much. I did it mainly to get the paladin who was traveling with me at the time to shut up. Now I'm finding out that it was my chance at a stronghold... my question is: Have I royally screwed up, or is the stronghold really important to the game?

I would say it can add an interesting dimension in many ways. You get experience for getting the stronghold, you sometimes get equipment, and it adds several 'strong hold' related quests. However, it doesn't impact the actual game very much, the story line contines as it was regardless...

I found that after getting my thief stronghold, that I was only able to do the first stronghold 'task'. I (erroneously?) then decided to head to the save Imoen, which takes one away for quite some time. When I returned to Athkatla, I had 'lost ' my stronghold. When I tried to buy it back, it automatically scripted back to 'You have lost your stronghold' no many how many times I tried to get it back. So, I found it to be disappointing, but others might have had more positive experiences?

... found out that Ama is a back-stabber. Anyway, it shouldnt have played any impact on u. Just think of it as w/o a Stronghold. Thats all. hehe... All I've noticed so far is that I get a lot of money.. that's all.. hehe
