how do you activate the invisibility? is it always on? i tried that approach but people could still attack me.

It's always on, but attacking will break it of course. Requip it and become invisible again. Also some creatures can detect invisible beings easily: dragons, kuo-toans, and mists are like this.

ahhh so you have to reequip the staff to reactivate the inbvisibility, allright thanks.
