So do you think she likes me? (spoilers)

I think I have a romance going with Jaheira, but I'm not sure any more.

I just finished Chapter 5. Jahiera definitely paid attention to how long I spent in the bedroom with Phaere. (Didn't sleep with Phaere in my main game, but tried it in an unsaved game and J. made a different remark.)

I assume there's still interest, but the scene post-Phaere was the only indication in all of Chapter 5. She made vague declarations of interest through all of Chapter 3 and 4 and at one point with some bandits I took an arrow in the eye which was apparently important (I nearly missed it).

Should I carry on and assume it will all work out in Ch 6 or 7, or did I miss some pivotal moment? First playthrough, so low-spoiler responses please.

If you're playing a vanilla game, I heard that the romance with Jaheira is broken and doesn't develop further from some point. I've never tried it though.

Well, I'm not an expert, but as far as I know, romances don't progress while in Underdark. They are, however, supposed to continue once you reemerge to the surface. I want to stress on "supposed to", since my stay in the Underdark caused a glitch that screwed up the romance with Jaheira for me. Also note that Jaheira is among the hard romances, since to trigger some of the dialogues you have to rest in a specific place (in the forest, in the open, etc.), and not in the city.

I can recommend the Sorcerer's Place Romancing Guide, though it contains spoilers.

You can also check how the romance is progressing via the CLUA Console. Enter the following command: CLUAConsole:GetGlobal("JaheiraRomanceActive","GLOB AL") and then check the value it gives you. If it's 1 or 2, then it's going fine, if it's 3, then the romance has reached a dead end.

I have Baldurdash installed which is supposed to fix the bugs in the Jaheira romance--I think.

I'll not worry about it too much and read the romance guide if I've got more questions.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Not that you'll want to do this now, but Baldurdash--as good as it was--was superceded by the BG2 Fixpack from the Gibberlings Three crew. Development continued at the G3 site long after Baldurdash shut its doors, and it has a lot more fixes.

Thanks fable, I didn't realize that.

I think BG2 is a pretty good game. I'm already thinking about a second playthrough with an evil party, so it's useful advice for the future.

Hell, yes, excellent mods for the black of heart. Just remember that Valen is a bit over-powered, and will step in to make evil choices when they are offered, if you don't. I really don't have any problem with this, since I've always liked RPGs whose party members exert a personality-based pull on how you behave. There are just a couple of instances of that in BG2, one involving Korgan, and the other, Minsc, but the more the better, provided they're handled with care.
