Random game crashes, very annoying..!

Hello ,
I started a new game, just after I finished SOA+TOB a few days ago.
I imported my character from the old game and also I brought some of her items along.
Now, this is my question, could this be the problem? The fact that I brought her with some of her items?

Need to say, the BG2 was rock-stable on my computer when playing it the last 2 months, not a single GPF, crash whatsoever...

Any ideas friends??

You mean you edited the game to add these items, right? I've heard of instability in the game before when items are added in, but I also know people who have managed it successfully. What method did you use?

Hello fable.
Thanks for the reply.
The method I used is one that is described here in the Strategy guides, importing items.
Just as the game starts, quickly I paused it, and through the user interface ('I') I accessed the inventory and dropped all my stuff on the floor. After that I unpaused the game, and the sequence with Irenicus starts and so on.
I did not edit anything in any file whatsoever.

Could this still be the issue??
