| |  Question about Ch. 3
Who should you ally with, Bodhi or the Shadow Thieves? Why?
Also, at what level should you do Ch3?
Any suggestions or help would be appreciated

Your ally usually depends on your alignment, if your good/neutral choose the Shadow Thieves, if evil choose Bodhi, but if you have and good aligned NPC's they could jump ship if you go with Bodhi.
You can do almost all the side quests in chapter 2. If I had to choose a min. level when proceeding to chapter 3 I suppose it would be an average of 10/11.

The choice is yours and your alignment should have no bearing whatsoever. You may get your NPCs questioning your judgement though, but whether they will leave - I shouldn`t think so...
The only thing that will determine your choice, other than preference, is your PCs character class. If he is a thief then Bodhi will not trust you and will not ally with you.

| The paths to the Shadow Thieves and Bodhi have no alignment or profession-related restrictions: they are simply a pair of alternatives that provide different experiences for a small part of the game. A "good" party won't suffer for going with Bodhi, and an "evil" party won't suffer for joining with the Shadow Thieves.
I've played through four times, and generally performed most of the available chapter 2 quests before tackling chapter 3. If you ally with the Shadow Thieves, you'll want a cleric who's handy with False Dawn (which actually comes in handy in chapter, as well). Ally with Bodhi, and you'll need all the offensive spell power you can get.

keldorn and mazzy leave if you align with bohdi, and if you have mazzy and valygar and he is mazzy's squire then he will leave too.

Ooops posted too soon!
If unsure about your NPCs leaving the party, save before handing over your joining fee then see - if they are not happy reload. Don`t forget the average neutral/good party member will tolerate evil party members...
It is whether they trust you (and your judgement)
The best contest I had between party members was when I recruited Shar'Teel in BGII and she kept attacking my male characters! I had to ensure my party formation kept her apart from the men!
Before you join Chapter three I would tidy up all the unfinished quests in Chap two and give yourself time to consider your options and the additional exp.
Choosing your ally will move you into Chapter three and you cannot progress to Chapter 4 until you have made your choice.
As far as levels, I would consider level 11. This shouldn`t be too difficult if you have completed all Chap 2 quests.

Fable - Bodhi will not ally with a thief (PC), though if he is dual class I am not sure.

I had no difficulty with a thief/mage. Can't say about thieves, as you suggest, for I haven't played a single profession one in BG2.
