Question

My party is high enough level so they are getting the special abilities each time they level up.

For some reason Aerie's special ability button is greyed out so it can not be used. Kinda sucks since I have given her some nice abilities.

I know there is a spell that disables special abilities but I never cast that spell. Not sure what is going on really.

Aerie doesn't get special abilities. Instead, she gets new spells.

I can't remember, but isn't Aura of Flaming Death an ability?
If not then no, Aerie doesn't get any at all.

If you tell us what 'nice abilities' you're talking about, someone will help out.

all ninth level cleric and mage rewards are extra spells, you can learn no other way, since scrolls dont exist for them. aura is a spell, druid and cleric pool.

I see where you might get confused!!!

greater elemental trnasform is in druid pool, but gives a ability, its not a spell...

also keldy is an inquisitor, with no cleric spells, your spell icon is disabled, so the game engien looks at class, I think, and the kit automatically processes priest spells added as innates...

so you can choose summon deva multiple times, and keldy will get in the innate tab.

its not a jip, the sorcs and mages and clerics would love to get some innates, since they are almost uninterruptable...you can get greater whirlwind intterupted, but just add the david gaidders added bhaal powers patch, and get some rather nice innates....

@userunfriendly question

does a paldin get high level ability from cleric pool? i dont think paladins will be able to 7th level clerical spells (which are needed to cast quest spells) i thought rangers, fighters, paladins, barbarians, and monks only received skills only from fighter pool... do rangers get cleric high level spells too?

thanks in advance

You know, all this is right in your ToB manual. You have one, right?

actually, fable, unles you actually run the character and see for yourself how it looks, its hard to visualize. I think pallys, annoying goddy two shoes, get warrior pool, but option of having summon deva, which should show up on innates tab.

paladins get so gipped in the game, they are limited to lv 4 and below, and you miss out deliberately on the best cleric spell in the game for cleric fighters, righteous magic. at high levels, think draw on holy might, and long duration kai. turns a cleric fighter into a living nightmare.

Page 9 of the ToB manual has a New Class Abilities list. It states: "The level at which characters begin to gain these abilities varies with each class: ..."Paladin: 18th (uses the warrior pool).

If you turn the page, you get a new topic of High-Level Class Abilities. Each ability is stated by itself; underneath it are the classes that can receive this; then, several lines under that, each ability has a paragraph of description. It's impossible (IMO) to miss this. For example, on page 11, it lists Critical Strike, and under it, Classes: Fighter, Paladin, Ranger, Barbarian, Monk. Under that, Special Requirements: You must know the Power Attack. You can only choose this ability once. And so on.

It just seems kind of obvious, in a fairly short manual, with everything listed very plainly (nothing's hidden, or hard to find), that the paladin gets its abilities from the warrior pool, and exactly what those abilities are. I'm not exactly a rocket scientist (some of you guys could blow me away with math easily), but I can find and understand exactly this information in a few seconds.

People just reckons it is easier to ask he than looking through the book... and it is!

I will play a undead hunter next game and devas are pretty cool! Also, my neutral f/m/t can actual choose between planetear and dark planetear, which is pretty odd, cause I don't know what is the diffence between the two. Don't answer this, BTW...

well I was surprised, when I experimented with leveling keldy how the game handles summon deva for a class that has priest level spells capped at lv 4.
