playing multiplayer game with pre genereted characters

im new here so feel free to crucify me if im asking stupid questions...

one of the tips shown while loading area or saving etc, is that i can play with a party created by me if i start a multiplayer game and take control of all the characters.

my question is how do i do that?
i tried to start a new game, but after i choose my character from the characters file i could'nt procide.

I might not remember what buttons to push 'exactly correctly' so you may have to experiment.

First, click multi-player.

Second, pre-generate 1-6 characters. Name them something you will remember (or write it down).

Third, go to the button 'connection'. Choose a connection type (I think it will actually search for and declare an error if you choose some of them and don't have the available hardware...However internet TCP/IP works for me even back when I didn't have that option)

Fourth, click connect? maybe it gives you option of putting a password and a name for your gaming session (I have always done this worrying that some randoms from gamespy would come..steal xp and items and then heckle me).
There should be a screen (eventually) with a spot for six characters with six check marks.

Fifth, click create (from a menu when you click on the checkmark? or box? i forget) and it goes to a screen of character creation. Click import and it will ask you if you want from a file or from a saved game. You have pregenerated your six characters so you should choose 'file'. select their name and hit ok. Do this for all six with however you want as bhaalspawn as number 1...also this will be their default marching order whenever you re-open a game so maybe think about that if rearranging is annoying to you.

Sixth, click on all the checkboxes. Now the option to 'start game' (or something like that) should appear. Click on that and and and and...well if it's your first time playing BG2 then you'll see

Seventh (optional). You always have to click the check boxes whenever you reload (tedious) but if you move the save file to the single player one you can still play it. I've never done that so I don't know the details.

enjoy!
