Planar Sphere and Lavoc Chapter 2 Question

We put valyagar in our party and did the planar sphere and managed to get it back to earth. It is still in our quests because we cannot kill lavoc. He is lying on the navagational bridge near death, unconscious. We've tried to kill him by magic etc and he keeps getting hurt but won't die. therefore, the thing with valyagar doesn't go away. What do we do to kill him? Thanks

when we returned he was still lying on the ground unconscious and red. We almost killed him when we went through and he never revived. Any ideas. We came back after walking around town for awhile and he was still unconscious on the ground on the top of his navagation machine.

He is supposed to be semi-conscious and lying on the ground, but not red. Once you win your initial fight with him he's supposed to fall down and turn blue and initiate conversation with you. After you've done everything he asked you to do, you're supposed to return to him, at which point he should still be lying on the ground and still blue and you can talk to him again. How you got him red after that first fight I don't know, nor do I know how you could de-aggro him. I'd say your best bet is to just reload a saved game from before you initially confronted Lavok and this time don't do anything that might've turned him red (maybe you tried pickpocketing him and failed, or force-attacked him after he fell?)

In some games I have played, esp when using cloud kill type effects on him initially he has gone red rather than back to blue after he does his "where am I" speach. The only way i could get around it was to go back to a saved game
and replay it. Do you have a saved game you can go back to and replay the sequence from when you first meet him?

there is probibly a global command that could be used to fix your current game but that is out of my expertise

cheers

Hmmm... if a long-term effect like Cloudkill could make him red again, then maybe it was the poison from Valygar's katana that did it? That keeps doing additional damage for two rounds, and if it hurt him again after he went blue, maybe that did it. I would've thought there was code built in to prevent that sort of thing though, otherwise I'd think we'd hear about it a lot more often.

it was cloudkill that we used. I guess I will have to go back but it is quite far back unfortunately. Cloudkill and then when he didn't regain consciousness, we did try to pick pocket him. Who would have thought. Thanks.

Is your main character a mage? If not, then you're not missing much other than about 45k worth of quest experience - nice, but probably not worth going back to a very old save. (You also get a nice Ring of Acuity from Lavok when you complete the quest, but you should've gotten that already from your pickpocketing). If you are a mage, though, then you're missing out on your stronghold, in which case yeah, you probably do want to go back to that old saved game, as much as it hurts.

main character is not a mage. Maybe in some other chapter it will right itself because I went back and checked my saved and while I have a lot in the sphere, all after making him red, none before that for like 50 days.

50 days? Yuck. IMHO definetly not worth it for just some quest xp. BG2 has huge replay value, so I'd just move on and you can watch out for that happening again the next time you decide to play the game (which you will - it sucks you in like that - you can quit game any time you like but you can never leave - muhahahaha)

You could try changing the variables in SK ... though I wouldn't know which one is the hostile value

You could also dig through CLUA console to see if there is a command that changes cons.

FInally you could try charming him and then dispel magic ( though I doubt that will work)

I've tried charm and dispel;you're correct they don't work.

The other things you mentioned: I don't know what they mean. SK and CLUA

SK is ShadowKeeper, the character editor. CLUA is the in-game console, with its commands. If you search in this forum for shadowkeeper or console, you'll certainly find a lot of material on both.

The SK character editor and the in game console thing you mention, do you have to download them. I searched them like suggested, but didn't find out how to open them and if they come with the game.
