party advice

Thanks for the replys to "Bodhi in Chp. 3", i used Shadow spawn's advice, it worked. But I found that i coundn't find Bodhi to stake her after I defeated her, I assume I have to wait till Chp.6? I also realized that i'm following the main thread too closely of the story and i'm advancing to chapters that my party isn't high enough levels to defeat, so i've decided to do some other smaller quests first. So here's my question. i want to have my party members decided before i find them so i don't make any mistakes. Right now i have myself (fighter), Minsc, Anomen,Jaheira,Nalia, and Aerie. I know pretty soon I will Have to chose between Jaheira and Aerie, I want to chose Aerie, later on I also want to pickup Imoen and Keldorn, so i need to get rid of Amonen or Minsc. I'm leaning toward keeping Amonen since he has Cleric abilitis, Any comments or Advice

First of all, i would dump Nalia, and get Jan.
Nalia's thiefing skills are to weak (she is a good mage but you need a thief) Then you have Jan & Aery for the mage spells.
Before you go to the assylum, dump Jan, and take Yoshimo with you (you'll see why) and in the assylum, dump Yoshi and take Imoen.

I would keep Jaheira and Minsc, with Aery and Jaheira in you're team you'll have all the cleric/druid spells you want so you don;t realy need Amonem.

So you can drop Amonem and take good old Keldorn with you

Then you have in you're party:

You (Tank)
Minsc (Tank)
Jeheira (Tank/Druid)
Keldorn (Tank)
Aery (Best spellcaster around)
Jan/Yoshi/Imoen (Mage/thief)

RE:

You don't lose one and keep the other in romance. If you want to stick with Aerie in romance, you could refuse Jahiera's romance but she will still stay with you unless you blatantly be offensive to her. I would keep her and dump Anomen for Keldorn. A cleric isn't overly necessary to complete BG and Jahiera has what no other druid has, the ability to ressurect like a Cleric. In addition her swarm line of spells and animal summoning are invaluable.

I'll also second the idea of losing Nalia for Jan. Jan makes a great comic relief and he can improve both mage and thief. You could then dump him for Imoen when the time arrives.

You - Fighter
Keldorn
Jahiera
Aerie
Jan
Minsc

BTW, you don't really have to bring Yoshimo with you to Spellhold. You'll get to see a twist in the plot if he does come with you, but you'll end up with the same end result in any case.

Minsc, Keldorn and your pc are all fighter types. Since you also have Jaheira (fighter/druid) you have about four tanks and you might want to dump Minsc or Keldorn and take another npc. If you plan to try and romance Aerie, bringing in Haer'Dalis might be a good idea. He's another kit than any of the others and he brings a nice twist to the storyline with him.
pc - fighter
Minsc or Keldorn
Jaheira
Jan
Aerie
Haer'Dalis

Also, doing a lot of sidequests first is a good idea. You have a full party of six and three of them are multi-class, which means your party will level up relatively slow, so you'll need experience.

RE:

Well if you plan on doing individual quests away from the storyline, the subplots, you should do what I do. Pick the 4 main NPCs who will remain with you for a long time (they'll reap the most experience with you) and keep your 6th slot as your guest NPC.

Most NPCs have several quests and then become dispensable after.

why does most everybody prefer Aerie over Nalia? In my game Aerie can't learn anything while Nalia can? but thank you for your replies, if i do go with Nalia, myself, anomen,Keldorn,Aerie, and Imoen do think I'll have any trouble?

Off course not, as long as you take Jan with you before you get imoen back.
Cause else you miss thiefing skills.
And Nalia is a good mage, only a lousy thief!
Amonem can be very good, make sure he passes his test.
And with a sling/certain warhammer he's a killer in melee

aerie at higher levels is best spell caster in gme, including edwin....used right, her triple chain of earthquake, implosion and holy mite makes any battles easy...

and now with new trick, she replaces jaheira as mondo mage disrupter...

storm of vengence!!!that spell is better than creeping doom for spell disruption, its fast, its nasty and unless you make custom mage druid, not even legal...it will knock out enemy spell casting for entier screen!! and it looks pretty...

sorta like area effect foa strikes, low level, but due to constant fire acid and electircal damage, they cant cast squat...

jahiera is great too, but i really prefer aerie as spell powerhouse...jahiera rocks if you sk her to totemic druid fighter...

sorry, bards are useless, and I didnt find the triangle with haer very interesting...battlesong is ok, and magic flute is kinda gross...(haer i know i am a better mage than you, but i am NOT going to use that recharged magic flute!!!i saw last night WHERE you pulled it out of...giggle...ick...)
if you really want to fool around with magic, tashia is cute, cuddly, and a good sorc, though her early spell selections suck...surprising nobody i reworked her lv 2 and 1 spells...and added some...giggle..
