Question Order Baldurs Gate

I only own Baldurs Gate II. What are the previous games before this, and in what order did they come out. Also, can you create a character in Baldurs Gate and take him thru each game until Baldurs Gate II? Any response would be appreciated.

BG1 then planescape:torment then icewind dale. You can only carry characters from BG1 to BG2.

Thumbs up

Thank you. Is Baldurs Gate worth putting part II aside for now, or should I just keep going? I am about 42 game days into it.

Question

Do you mean starting from scratch with BG1?

Yes. I think it might be cool to meet some NPC's. That way maybe it might add a little emotion to part II. I don't know, what do you think?

The first game using Infinity engine was as we all know Baldurs Gate.
And later :
-Planescape Torment
-Tales of the Sword Coast (expansion to BG1)
-Icewind Dale
-Baldurs Gate 2 - Shadows of Amn

You could create character in BG1 or BG1 ToTSC and import it to BG2.
But you cannot import character from BG2 to BG1 or BG1 ToTSC. The characters from IWD are not compatible with Baldurs Gate, so you could use them only in IWD and in announced expansion to this game (the same situation with PT - even other world makes it impossible to use the protagonist from PT in BG2).

You will be able to import BG2 characters in Newer Winter Nights as well as in BG2 Throne of Bhaal.

You should know there are 8 "books of learning" in BG1, allowing you to raise your stats above the normal restrictions, you could for example have a human with 19 in any stat, and 21 in wis

Um... they're very different games, interaction in BG1 is very limited. Infact most of the NPCS are quite annoying http://www.gamebanshee.com/ubb/smile.gif (except Safina - hubba hubba)
I remember all those 10 reasons why i hate Jaheira lists...

But it is very satisfying importing your BG1 character into bg2 and playing all the way through.

Be warned though - BG1 can be very tough when you start out at first level. Every encounter has the potential to be a disaster http://www.gamebanshee.com/ubb/smile.gif (oh look kobolds... oh Im dead)
