| | | New Evil Party I have beaten BGI with my evil halfling Fighter/Thief and have started BG2. I have started putting together my party so far I have:
Ghost PC Fighter/Thief
Korgan
Viconia
Edwin
I would like a 6 person party and am having difficulty deciding on the last two. H'D grates on my nerves and I am having trouble with him...I can't seem to be able to memorise spells with him. There are no empty slots for memorising spells. He started with no spells in his spellbook whatsoever and he can write spells to his book...he just can't memorise them. I have tried sleeping and reloading to no avail.
I would like another tank and another spellcaster (arcane or divine, doesn't matter) for my style of play. Thought of picking up Cernd but I don't know how he will react to taking the "other" path with my 15,000 gold... I have all the thiefly skills with my PC and he is also pretty good at tanking...I am at a loss. I left Minsc and Jaheira to rot in Chateau Irenicus so they are out of the equation. Any suggestions?

| | | It's hard to say about the H'D spell problem. Did you perhaps put a non-bard armor on him?
Anyway, if you're using mods, I would suggest checking out Valen if you haven't done so before. She's very fun for role-playing an evil party, though she's rather overpowered so you may want to do a bit of tweaking in shadowkeeper or something. Otherwise, if you're staying with standard NPC's (and if H'D is ruled out) you're probably left with Yoshimo and Jan, eventually replacing them with Imoen and Sarevok who would ultimately best serve your desires for one more tank and one more arcane caster. Really though, unless you're set on carrying 6 at all times, I'd say to just go with the 4 you have so that your multiclass PC can gain levels faster; pick up Imoen early if you like; and perhaps use Jan as a utility player if you need him. Don't frown upon what may seem like redundant thief skills from Jan. He's actually especially worthwhile in tandem with another thief since he can max out early on detect illusions, saving you from worrying about being able to cast true sights (not to mention the uses of his casting ability). And then later in the game, there's hardly anything bad about having another character with UAI. Between your PC's and his, you would practically have 2 F/M/T characters along with the respective single-class powerhouses of Korgan/Edwin/Viconia. Plus, assuming that your PC would tend toward some dual-wielding sword capacity, you can throw Jan Carsomyr so you're not as tempted to use it yourself (post-UAI) at the expense of your well-honed skills and proficiencies over the course of the game. |

| | | If you can stomach him... there's always a CN Anomen.
He can tank quite nicely, and the cleric spells don't hurt either.

| | Not to display my bias once more ( ), but I think CN Anomen would mesh well into an evil party. Problem is I believe your reputation has to be at a certain number to convince him to kill Saerk, which can be an obstacle for a truly evil group.

| | Well, my little bundle of death is VERY evil...a Chaotic Evil Halfling Fighter/Assassin (a little bit of SK to tweak him into what I view him as) but smart enough to choose the right dialogue options....most of the time. I have already killed Anomen (my rep was 1 and he turned red on me when I said I was a coward thru & thru...bug? fluke? Whatever it was it was satisfying) and left Jaheira and Minsc to rot. My options are dwindling. I don't have any mods installed right now as I have just barely mastered easytutu and am loathe to muck up my game installing something I have no clue what I am doing... Can mods be installed mid-game? If so, who are the evil ones?

| | Well, those wonderful folks over at the Pocket Plane Group have a great directory for most NPC mods here. I don't roleplay evil so it's difficult for me to recommend anyone, but Valen, if overpowered, does come to mind.
Now, if you worry about installing mods midgame you may want to consider downloading the NPC's Don't Fight/Don't Leave portion of Wiemer's Ease-of-Use mod here and pick up whatever nuetral characters you haven't obliterated yet. This will keep incompatible characters or nuetrals who leave at a low reputation from jumping ship until you start a new game with mods.

| | It sounds as though Kindrek, a chaotic evil wizard slayer, might be up your alley, he can be found on the page that AC noted.
Here is a description: Quote: |
Kindrek is from a race of magic-hating half-giants known as the Roc. Their racial origins are actually unknown, but many believe they were once men bred with giants. Others claim they are overgrown dwarves, since their bodies' structures are so very similar. Standing seven to eight feet tall, Roc are highly magic-resistant, and they love nothing better than hunting down wizards and destroying magic items. Kindrek is a soulless blackguard. He is a tireless, merciless pursuer of magic. He possesses incredible strength and is extremely hardy (racial characteristics). Kindrek is a non-romanceable NPC for BGII--SoA & ToB. He now has a mini-quest, along with his one Kindrek-specific encounter. He has extensive banters and interjections as well as a couple of cut scenes. He also has a ChatPack. A "ChatPack" is something I came up with when looking at romanceable NPCs' FlirtPacks. It works under the same principle as a FlirtPack, but instead of flirting, you just chat. These are all PC-initiated chats. One tip: Kindrek will not join your party if the main character is a wizard, a multi-classed wizard, a sorcerer, or a bard. Enjoy!

| | I am doing really well with a 5 (mostly 4) person party having picked up Cernd for his little quest thingy...I am getting really powerful really fast (level 15 and I have not even gone to Spellhold yet ). I do miss a 6 person party because of the banter. I went to pick up Yoshi from the Copper Coronet and he wasn't there I was wanting H'D because I haven't used him b4 but even after trying to add him after the Planar Prison he can't memorise spells...he has them in his book but no little empty boxes in the book...
BTW...the entire Copper Coronet populace (aside from Hendak, Bartender, Unger, and Surly) are turned red...any way of fixing this?? I, uh, killed the Madam upstairs and now everybody hates me and has resulted in me having a 1 Rep...which is quite interesting let me tell you...

| Well, I got H'D fixed... All I had to do was gain a level and all of a sudden his spellbook was ready to memorise spells. I have no Idea why that happened but that is fixed, thankfully.
