Need help (bug?) - possible spoilers

Hi all,

I just installed ToB right before I went into the Elven City in SoA. I got sidetracked a bit and played 2 levels of Watcher's Keep before I found it to be a bit too difficult for my current party.

So I went ahead and continued on the main quest. I did the things you have to to on the Elven City (killed Dragon, etc) but then noticed that I suddenly lost a huge amount of gold. I was running with 133k+ in my inventory and now it is down to 27k+. I can't seem to pinpoint the event wherein I lost all this gold. My auto-save also had the lesser amount, and the latest save I had with the right amount was the one that I created prior to entering Watcher's Keep.

Is there some legitimate reason for me losing all this gold? Please help. Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
A

mhh, well there are several places where you can loose your money, the dragon in the elven city, a special card at watchers keep but thats later, anyways you wont need the gold anyways, imo the only way u could "need" the money is when you buy scrolls for your mages

I'd put my money on the dragon. You probably cycled through the conversation and missed the part where he takes your gold. But yes, in ToB you should have gold as there are a few expensive things to be had.

Since I died a few times on the Dragon, I'm pretty sure I picked the last option to get to the fight right away before eventually beating him. Even then, I was thinking that he'd drop the gold back if I picked the wrong option before initiating the fight.

If that was the case though, would he not take all of the gold instead of leaving 20-something thousand? Not sure what else it could have been though... maybe I'll just have to redo eveything from the last good save. Seems a bit tedious, but oh well...

Thanks for the help.

It's possible that you either picked that gold up or sold something to get it. Also, if I recall correctly, there is an option to fight the dragon AFTER you pay him. He does not drop the gold.
