Minsc and Dynheir/Aerie/Nalia and the wheel of time

Hey all,
this is'nt really a question or anything, more of an observation.
I have read some of the Wheel of Time books by Robert Jordan and i have noticed a similarity between it and BG.
In the books there are magic users called Aes Sedai and the have a warders, who are gaurdians and provide the muscle in fights.
I have realised that they are like the witches and rangers from minsc's country( Rasheman, or something, i am probably completely off but the name sonded familiar).
Minsc would be like the warder and Dynheir or Aerie or Nalia ( i think that Nalia might be able to be his witch if Aerie is'nt in the party), would be the Aes Sedai.

I just felt like pointing that out

I agree there's some similarity in the books with the minsc/dynaheir/aerie "bondage", but then IMO it's not that original idea that a woman spellcaster has a fighter to "protect" her it's brain&brawn

If you guys didn't notice, there are tons of references to books, movies etc. in baldur's gate and BG2. A few i picked up while playing were Garrick the bard is also the fake name of a character in Huckleberry Finn. A con-man pretends to be an actor named Garrick and scams people out of their money. Also, one i noticed right of the bat was Lonko the Sane, the care-taker of the asylum. Wonko the sane is a character in the book So Long and Thanks for all the Fish (in the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy series). Wonko claims to be the only sane man on earth and builds an asylum around the whole earth except for himself (in actuality his house simply looks like the outside of a house). I think it was rather clever that the writers put so many little hints of other books and stuff.

You got to get your idea from somewhere. However, there is only a fine line between plagarism and extraction, as my lawyer told me the other day!
