| | | Mind Flayers The tacticguides for killing Mind Flayers doesn't work for me...
They just happen to be Magic Resistence - Cloudkill tactic doesnt work.
Then there is the summon animal tactics - BOM! My animals are blown up in 2 seconds!
And next tactic is: Summon Undead! - Well, this tactic works untill your bone army is massacred by 7 Mind Flayers! Then what?
Those imbalanced ugly creatures just kills me! I'm to low lvl for Invisible Stalkers.
I couldn't even manage them with the Slayer. Anyone here who has a simple good tactic that isn't writen at the Strategy Guides? |

| | First of all, what level your party is?
And what item you have?
And generally, which NPCs you have in your party.
It's far easier to give advices if we know what your capabilities are...
Oh, and welcome to GameBanshee!

| | | I believe that the poster is referring to casting the Chaotic command on a fighter.
I believe that you can also use a Beserker's Rage ability as well.

| | | I used to use constant resting and invisible stalker attacks but that admitably took a long time.
Now I realise that casting chaotic commands on any ranged characters armed with infinite ammunition weapons just minces mind flayers. It's even better if invisible party members are blocking their path and causing them to jam in doors for picking.

Mind flayer lairs are also particularly susceptible to the blade barrier/sanctuary cheese. They will actually all flock to the first one hit, essentially jumping into your blender themselves. |

You cast Chaotic Command on your fighters (and buff them with everything else you got to like: Protection agains evil, haste , anti fear, stoneskin) and just run in and have fun The Mind Flayers have VERY hard to even hurt you.
Chaotic Command makes you immune to charmspells, stunspells and such...

| | | For future reference, traps can work very well too. Set them just outside of whatever area the mind flayers are in and lure them over the traps.
As far as summons go, if your party is high enough level, try Mordekainen's Swords and Skeleton Warriors. Both are quite resistant to the mind flayer's attacks.

| | | Hi. First post on BG forum but not a BG noob at all. Finished BG2 +TB couple of times with npc and whole custom party (lan game). In all games berserker in party is a must. Its life savior in situations like this. Berserker rage makes you immune to most annoying mind spells, "holding in place" spells and other skills and btw- even with uber custom party at high lvls there are 2 tough fights in game. Dont wanna go offtopic so i`ll just say it that berserker rage is the only way I know to avoid demilich howl... other than that whole party with ALL buffs and immunities form spellbook died from it.
so two words- use berserker |

| | Mindflayers fall for the lure tactic pretty well but they all seem to come at once even if only one is uncovered...Traps work well with this tactic

| | | Another question about Mind Flayers.
If you cast Improved Invisibility, are they still able to cast those annoying spells on you?
I am thinking on another different way to defeat them.
Thanks |

| | I think so, yes. It's not a spell, but rather an ability.
As far as I remember, the best way to take out mind flayers are to zerg them with skeletons/mord's sword and other psi-immune summons. Cloudkill has worked for me too, but you need more than just one... throw in half a dozen of those nasties and close the door, it's a pretty low-level spell anyway.
So... they're magically resistant. Did I hear anyone name Sunfire? |

| | | I send Minsc and Korgan in with Bless, Protection from Evil, and Chaotic Commands and they just walk through the Flayers. As they are walking up to the Flayer's my cleric casts Bless on the area.
While Minsc and Korgan work the front line of the Flayers, the rest of my party hits the back line of the Flayer's with missile weapons.
Most battles are over very quickly and with little damage suffered by any party members.
