Question Melf's Minute Meteor Spell

I just started a new game with a Sorcerer. One of the spells I chose was Melf's Minute Meteor. I've noticed that when I cast the spell, it replaces any weapon I have in its slot.

Im just wondering, what if I have a magical weapon on hand? I mean, if I have for example, the Staff of the Magi, what will happen to its weapon abilities/bonuses (e.g. immunities, AC bonus, etc.) Will all these be temporarily nullified when I cast the Minute Meteor spell?

Unfortunately, yes.

This is exactly why I don't like Melfs. Cast Dispell Magic when you need to get rid of them fast.

Considering you can chuck 5 of them a round it usually doesn't take too long to get rid of them.

I've also heard rumors that a fighter mage with an off-hand Crom Faeyr can somehow end up chucking it along with the meteors...can anyone verify that?

I love Melf's Meteors, they greatly increase the damage output of a mage. Cast a spell, throw 4 meteors while you wait for the next recycle, then cast another spell. Rinse and repeat. Handy for those times when you need as much damage output as you can muster.

Yes you will fight as if dual wielding melfs and whatever weapon you have in you off hand. It is nice to do 30 or so ranged damage in one hit
To all you guys who don't like melf, you should try it some more it is awesome.
