Post Mazzy???

For variety (I'm in my second game) I'm thinking of recruiting Mazzy for the middle chapters. Has anyone played her, what is she like? My only problem is that I have a pretty decent party right now (my fighter/mage, Anomen, Minsc, Valygar, Jaheira and Yoshimo) so I'm not certain who I'd dump. While Jaheira may seem an obvious choice, I like using the cleric/druid combo for spells, and despite his pompous, puritanical tude Anomen is a very useful character. That leaves Minsc or maybe Valygar.....what's the concensus here?

If you don't want to drop Anomen, drop Minsc. Valigar is better IMO. And Mazzy is definitly worth it...
Absolutely don't drop Jahiera. (IMO)

Some people like Mazzy. For me, she's not an effective choice. A fighter who really has no strong melee skills is a contradiction in terms.

Mazzy is the best archer in the game. She had a -8 Thaco when I finished the game with the Gesen bow. She like rarely ever missed and was attacking 7/2. I liked her and would recommend her. You need about 2 front line tanks and the rest you can fill in with whatever you want whether its an archer or caster support.

I had her with 5 short bow, 5 short sword, and 1 single weapon profiency.

she killed all the golems in suldenesselar

she also gets a very low AC when i had her it was around -8 that was the lowest in my whole party

Drop Valygar. He's truly feeble IMO. Not a great fighter, so he relies on the backstab, which is a one hit wonder, and you have Yoshimo for that anyway.

Drop him and get Mazzy. She is a bow Goddess, there's that bow that fires three shots a round (don't know the name), then you move up to the Grensen bow later. A truly excellent character to have. She can chip in up close when required as well.

Thanks all. I have picked up Mazzy and I'm already impressed, equipped with the gauntlets of ogre power and the belt of fortitude she actually seems to make a decent melee fighter too. For now I've dropped Minsc. As endearing and amusing as I find him, his "we are all heroes line was beginning to wear somewhat. I agree that you have Yoshimo for backstab ......but not forever (not to dwell on a common theme, but the creators at Black Isle are definitely sadistic in the way they give you such a great but temporary thief)
Happily, Minsc will be waiting in the Copper Coronet should I change my mind before heading off to rescue Imoen.

Minsc was a stalwart tank in my first game. My protaganist was a paladin and him and Minsc just tore things up. I had minsc go with katanas with maces for backup against blunt only mobs and for undead. Minsc definitely makes a better tank then Valygar IMO mainly because of his strength.

Sentor, I said she didn't have strong melee skills, not that she wasn't a strong fighter. She get hit stuff at a distance, but she has few proficiency points in any melee weapons.
