Maze/Imprisoment on Solo play?

Is there a way to prevent instant death to Maze/Imprishment on Solo play? I used Spell Immunity to the right school (Abjuration, I think) but when the Maze/Imprishment are cast I immediately lose...
My character is Cheese (Kensai/Mage)

The only way to stop imprisonment on solo is to have Protection from Magic scrolls or spell immunity.

Maze will not kill your player but will just take him out of the picture for certain number of rounds.

Only two enemies that I ran into in the whole game that cast Imprisonment, Kangaxx, and the Elder Orbs in Hell.

Problem is it doesn't work that way when playing Solo. If I'm the target of Maze, I see the bars surrounding my character, and even before the immunity check or spell save, the game ends and I get the Bhaal symbol movie. When I return to the game (Load/Quit) I see my character alive and well.....

maze is conjuration
imprisonment is abjuration
