Losing Imonen too early?

Okay, just got baldur's gate 2, but i know what happens after you escape from the dungeon place thanks to a friend. I just lost Imonen in the dungeon, and I am wondering if this effects the game at all.

If Imoen gets too badly hurt in the first dungeon she runs away. You will see her again though.

If she got killed then there is something wrong with your game.
