Post Kensai/Mage or Sorcerer for solo game

With the exp cap removed what do you guys prefer between these two classes? Was thinking of duoing to mage at lvl 12 Kensai or making a sorcerer. Whats your opinions, lets hear'em!

Also what about a gnome Illusionist/fighter? Get the benefits of a specialist mage and a fighter's thaco from the get go.

Cool

Sorceror's the one for solo. More castings, and you don't need to search for scrolls. Plus you can still use scrolls.

you should try to solo with other class
if you solo with socererthe game will get boring when you reach level 15 and have animate dead and project image, you can easyly have 20 skeleton warriorswich can beat anything
kensai/mage i really need to say why the game will be easy?

First, I would like to say that I think Kensai Mage is only fun with the cap on, without, it gets ridiculous (my opinion) so I would go with the sorcerer.

Also, how the heck did Ripper get 20 Skeleton Warriors. I thought you could only get 5??

I would say that neither make good soloists (although it may still be possible). If you want mage spells and you want to go solo, then go with either the Blade or the Avenger/Fighter.

Personally, I'm from the role-playing school, though I've been lured into powergaming several times. (and probably will be again in the future)

I don't see how a person who dedicated his entire life to the devotion of combat with a single weapon, becoming one with the sword and with the adrenaline of combat, can simply drop all that and become a mage in the span of an hour.

I'm not ripping anyone for doing this. Who am I? Do what you find fun. To me, from a roleplaying perspective, none of the fighter kits work when dualling to a mage. They don't make sense. Thus, I like the sorceror.

If you remove the cap then gnome fighter/illusionst is the way to go. This is a great character for sure.

Riverwind: Ok...I wondered what you would consider a soloist but just re-read your note. I don't disagree that these are good solo classes, but IMO some of the ones you are dismissing are as well. BTW, Avenger/Fighter is impossible without editing or importing from BG1. It does sound like fun though.

That said, dual classing can be tricky when dualing. For a time you'll be weak, but once over that hump things get easy. Still, if you're playing without the cap I suggest you take the Kensai to level 13 before the dual. This will give you an extra 1/2 attack and another extra 1/2 attach with the boots of speed.

Sorcerers soloing are very slow since you have to keep resting. At the same time, they are very, very powerful.
