Post Kangaxx won't die!!

I have litererally beaten the crap out of this lich and he won't die and change to his demilich form. I did around 10,000 points of damage to him last night and he just stays near death.
A disintegrate spell worked and he stayed there.

He regenerates. Are you hitting him often?

3 skeleton warriors, minsc with Lilicor, Jaheira with that +4 staff, I even hit him with every anti undead spell in the book - Sunray, .....

Nothing regenerates that quickly, I must be doing 100 points of damage every 10 seconds.

Sunray should make the best of him if he is near death so it must be a flaw in the game. I had the same problem with Lavok in PlanerS. he didn't want to talk to me after he fell on the floor. he also recived 10,000 hp damage just to be sure. You should have a auto save outside, just use that and next time give him a wizards eye to play with first then try kicking him again.

Skeleton Warriors shouldn't be able to damage him. Lilarcor can't touch him. He requires +4 or better weapons. Jaheira can hit him with a staff, but if you don't hit him often enough, he'll regenerate. Doesn't regenerate quickly, though.

I thought only the demilich form was +4 and the initial lich form was +3????

The message box says that the skeleton warriors are doing on average about 15 points of damage a hit.

And no Zorac, I have not used protection from undead.

Maybe it is a bug - I will try again tonight. However last night I got sick of it and decided to go take on the Twisted Rune, so my previous savegame is before that and that is definately one fight I do not wish to have again. I think it was definately the hardest fight in the game so far - much harder than dragons, or lichs or mindflayers.....

I got slaughtered the first time I took on the Twisted Rune. Great fight.

I thought you were talking about the demi-lich. I need to read more carefully. You are right and it must be a bug, if you aren't invisible to him. Doesn't make any sense.

I heard that if you cheat, ie 'fake talk' him you will be punished severely: He will never die.

Ok i have an method that will kill both his forms in like 5 minutes but it's a bit long, here's how it goes...

1st, rest your party. I hope you've got yoshimo and edwin with his spell immunity spell or else it won't work. Go inside, DON'T ressurect him yet, and get yoshimo to plant all his traps near the spot kangaxx comes out from. Make sure all the snares are successful. Cast haste on your whole party and get the weakest member to stand next to the coffin(he'll open the coffin). Surround kangaxx's resurrection area with everyone else. Initiate the sequence! The minute he pops out pause the game and get everyone to attack him, magic missle sword or otherwise. This has to be done before he even starts talking, when he's still highlighted in blue. If all goes well, he should pretty much 'die' within 3 seconds and begin the transformation. Get the hell out of there( you casted haste, didn't you? ) before he goes into 'pissed off' mode.

Now the second part. Once you're outside, equip edwin with the staff of rynn +4(you can get this at the adventurer's mart) and anyone else with a +4 or better weapon. Put edwin in the 2nd character slot. This way kangaxx attacks him the minute you go back into the battlefield. Cast spell immunity, chose the abjuration field when prompted, recast haste if necessary, and you're good to go. When back inside, kangaxx should keep bombing edwin with the imprisonment spell and nothing else. sic edwin on him 1st, and once he's done abit of damage, sic the rest of your party who have +4 weapons on him as well. This ensures that kangaxx won't shift his attention to someone else. The damage done is pitiful, but a lot of little goes a long way, and you'll kill him eventually. You may have to recast spell immunity midway thru the battle before it runs out. Once he's dead, collect the 55,000XP, a ring that regenerates hit points every 6 seconds, and then moonwalk outta there. Nuff said. I got lotsa good tactics for many other monstars too...

You can also steal the ring from him while he is blue and end up having two rings..

I stole his ring form him while he was blue - could this be why I can not kill him. And Waverly - I didn't even know you could fake talk him?

Anyway I am in the Sahaugin city now so I will try and take him on when I go back to the city.

Cool

There must have been another reason. I believe if you have protection for evil on he will not die. I have stolen the ring everytime I've played.

I just hit him 1 time with the "mace of disruption + 1" Just before he managed to cast his spell protections, and then he died...I think you can manage to attack one or two times before he cast those spells.

Hm...
I read some strategy guides and I didn't find him that hard. I went in alone with my Kensai/Mage lvl 12/15
Staff of Magi (using spell trap)
Improved Invisible/Invunerable(potion)/Magic resistance(potion)/Mind focusing(potion)=25 dex, 25int
Threw spell immunity at myself and just started whacking him, did about 2-4 points of damage per hit(took a while, especially when he started trying to flee!). In the end I'm not even sure I took a single point in damage...
The point is that every battle can be easy with the right tactic.
