i have tried laying traps right in the place where he appears and summoned creatures close to him and stroke (hehe) him with poison arrows and swords just when he appears be4 even hes hostile (red ring around) and right in the beginning he is badly injured or near dead. i cast remove fear for my party yet still it doesnt work, my party runs around like hell when he does some **** that has something to do with fear. but i have probs with the DEMI version of him. | | You need +4 or better weapons to hurt him, and if my memory serves, he's got some sort of partial immunity that cuts down on the amount of damage you do per hit.
He actually doesn't have an incredible number of hit points, but his special abilities are NASTY. But he is evil, so what's a poor Paladin to do... |

| | Have a paladin cast simulacrum (helm of vhalior), let the sim use a scroll of protection from magic and hack away. |

| | 1. He can only be hit with +5 weapons.
2. Melf's miute meteor will affect him, cloak of stars, carsomyr, sling of everard, and a few other items early in the game.
3. Use your traps for sure
4. Get the prot from magic scroll from Ribald in the Adventurer's Mart. Cast it on you best tank and after the traps go offwhack away with a +5 and lich will be no more. You can use your other folks to cast melf's but alwasy run the risk of them getting smooshed. I prefer to keep them back and let one persom go head to head.

| | I wouldn't let anyone but a simulacrum use the protection from magic scroll, those things are hard to come by. |

| | There are several strategies for defeating him here.

| | Since this is no doubt the most over-asked question of all time, a search will probably turn up a wealth of information. There's also an entire page devoted to Kangaxx the Demi-Lich in GameBanshee's strategy section. Finally, there's this incredibly funny piece of advice on Baldurdash which everyone should read at least once.
If that all won't see you through, I suggest you let your party gain a few more levels.
Oh, and welcome to the forum.

| | In AD&D, an ethereal or astral wizard casting Power Word: Kill will kill him. Since both Boots of Etherealness and Kill is available...well?
PS: It doesn't work.

| | mace of disruption +2 will settle his petals. a protection against imprison is good, spell immunity abjuration does the trick. (for mages) or use one of the protection from magic scrolls -cast it ON HIM, rather than on yourself. he will suffer repeated spell failure.. which is funny. |

| | Heh! That's one I HADN'T thought of! I seldom use my prot from magic scrolls. I didn't think they would work on hostile creatures. If this works, that is a great way to take out the two demiliches in the game. [2 Demi-liches+2Scrolls of Magic Prot =2 dead Demiliches.]

P.S. I used to use prot from magic against J.Irenicus, but have found that is overkill. |

| | i fought him for the first time yesterday, and well, it was quite disappointing!
all i had to do was use a protection from magic scroll and then the demi lich was harmless! i used the sling of everard against him. it took some time though, i was doing only 2-3 damage with each hit!
hope this helps! |

| | ok ok ok
thanx for replies but i already killed him with Slayer almost right after the 2nd post.
it was easy. But was that the hardest enemy in the game? i think bioware or some other dudes said it.

| | Ahh....
But the Slayer is immune from Imprisonment (and a bunch of other things as I recall). I find the Demi-Lich is either very easy or impossibly hard.
If you can negate his ability (a cheat IMO) to imprison you from a DISTANCE, then he is easy. If you can't, then he is impossible.
In this sense, I find that the Demilich (both actually) is one of the few monsters where it is *easier* to take him on as a solo player than as a party. [Since Imprisonment kills a romance, the demiliches can do BAD things to your virtual love life.]
