| | Is attacking in between spellcasting cheating? I noticed BG2 lets you break standard (A)D&D rules by letting you attack after casting spells in the same round.
Spellcasters cannot cast more than once every 6 seconds because of the "magical residue" that sticks around after spellcasting. Of course, this is Bioware's way of telling us that, no, you can't cast more than one spell per round.
A character with 1 attack will only try to land a hit once every 6 seconds (the avatar may swing weapons a lot more often, but that's just for show). All in keeping with (A)D&D rules.
The difference shows up when you alternate between spellcasting and attacking. Fast spells leave a lot of 'lag time' before you can cast again. This time can be used to make attacks (most obvious when making ranged attacks).
This is the way BG2 works. Enemies do this too. This is not the way (A)D&D works.

| | Why would that be cheating?
If I wanted to play by all the AD&D rules I would play a PnP game.
I think BG2 is a separate game which has it's own rules, and if these rules let me do something why shouldn't I do it?

| | I agree with Angelus, cheating occurs only when using an external program to alter the gameplay. If the game let's you do it then its not cheating.
Also I think I read somewhere that the creators tweaked some of the 2nd edition rules to be closer to 3rd edition, but only in some situations.
I think...
Hope that helps |

| I don't think so. The CLUAConsole cheats don't use an external program, and the game lets you do it. It's still cheating. However what Xyx sais is not cheating IMO.

| The game lets me do all kinds of really really abusive stuff. Have you ever tried the Fake Talk or any of the multiple XP award exploits? I'd call that cheating... |
