I make a mage (or two if Aerie and Nalia are in your party) invisible and creep just through the door and cast Fireball as far in as possible. Run back into the room where everyone else is waiting with big swords or sharp arrows and pound them as they come through the door. Repeat until bar-b-que is ready. Serve with a liberal dollop of Umber Hulk... Tasty!

I usually try to 'reveal' only one troll at a time with a single character (hasted, in most cases) then have him chase the character back into the storage room, where my other characters await him. Then, I pound on the troll savagely until he drops, using whatever I have handy (the flaming sword that can be purchased from the Copper Coronet is nice, as is the completed Flail of the Ages). Lather, rinse, repeat, until all trolls are dead. http://www.gamebanshee.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hard battle, but you want to do this without *cheating* (taking them one at a time is cheating IMO), right? The 3rd level mage spell Melf's Minute Meteors works wonders here, as well as 2nd level mage spell Melf's Acid Arrow casted repeatedly on one troll (got to love Melf). Fireball's great for an intitial spell, before they close. 5th level mage spell hold monster also works against trolls. Summon lots of monsters as cannon fodder too. Aerial servant (6th level cleric spell) is the best. Summon spiders (4th level mage spell) is also useful at your level (and its low level so you can keep summoning them for a long time), but they die really quick. Remember to cast preparatory spells like protection from evil, haste, stoneskin, bless, etc. before the battle.

Oh, you might have already figured out the obvious, but if not, my strategy is for a mage-dominated party like mine is. My strategy works best if you have lots of mages. The Melf's Acid Arrow thing is a real killer if you have enough mages. Oh, here's another summoning tip: If you have time enough before they vanish, cast lots of protection spells on your summoned monsters, especially haste. If your party doesn't have any mages, you can just tell me to shut up.

Torgal charges very quickly--I found it helpful to cast Web, which pinions him fora while.

also one other thing, Torgal can detect you when you are invisible. (hence the dialog where he says "no one hides from torgal. i smell you, i do." or something like that.)

Cool

The main thing (IMHO) is to have a good front line (As Anatres and Hei_Mao pointed out) defense to keep the Torgal and his buddies busy wile the mages and long range fighters pelt them. If not they will be having mage soup for dinner. http://www.gamebanshee.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

multiple (so you've got them rolling to save vs. effects many times) web + entangle to tie down the bad guys. Then add whatever your area weapon of choice is. Fireball works well as does cloudkill. I prefer fireball as the effects are over quickly and any survivors can be knocked off with arrows/magic missiles or cast spell of free action + haste on tank and go hack the remaining baddies to mush.

I remember the first time I was there I used Hold monster for holding back Torgals buddies. This is one of those times you really can prepare so use everything you have haste, bless, summon ...

Easiest way is to use yoshimo and just set traps put your party at the stairs and move just close enuf for torgal to attack but the trolls dont... then run... torgal should die just from trap damage( u need about 4 traps)

Angry What the hell

Ive battled this guy over and over, trying out some of these stratagies. Im new to this game so bear with me.
1. Difficulty is at it's lowest
2. I don't have cloudkill, and most of the rest that are mentioned. I have bless, hold creature etc. No haste.
3. I've tried luring them out one at a time, and all three eventually come anyway.

What the heck am I supposed to do? This is getting stupid.

Just remember IM A NOOB so I wont know everything here. So explain what ur talking about please??
