Try looking in your BGII folder....if it exists, cancel all of it. You can also try to say yes when he asks you to completely uninstall the game.....
Let me know if this works....

I had such a situation with my BG2(Because I have Cd-recorder and DVD in the same computer I was able to listen music during instalation - huge mistake - at the end of instalation nothing happened - I had to restart computer and then I wasn't able to reinstall bg2. The deinstall was also impossible.

There are two things that could be done :
1) Find all register entries about BG2 and erase them (Boring and difficult to do)
2) Reinstall windows (Boring and takes a lot of time but much easier than changing register files)

Ok, I have a solution for you, it involved editing Windows' registry file, so if you're not sure, don't do it.
Firstly, delete the directory where the game is installed in.
Then, go into the Windows' directory and find REGEDIT.EXE, run it. Click on the + icon for "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE", and again for "SOFTWARE". If there is something called "Bioware Corp.", or similar, delete it.
Exit the program after you have colapsed everything by pressing on the - icons. Restart the computer, and install the game again.
