Having trouble installing BG2

Whenever autoplay runs I get two error messages:"The BALDUR.EXE file is linked to missing export KERNEL32.DLL:Interlockedincrement" and "D:/ a device attached to the sytem is not functioning"
I tried to run setup.exe directly from the disk but I get this message "The SETUP.EXE file is linked to missing export KERNEL32.DLL:copyFileA" and "D:/setup.exe a device attached to the sytem is not functioning"
Has anyone had this problem before? I've tried everything I can think of but nothing so far has worked. Please help!

Well, come to find out, every disk that I try to install won't, so I guess this problem is system related (big relief there, I thought I might have to take BG2 back and exchange it - I don't like doing that).

I have had similar messages in the past. The DLL files I were missing were Windows files that had been somehow removed by my system cleaner (?) anyhow, reinstalling Windows sorted out the missing .DLL files....
