Elves & bows?

The AD&D players handbook says any bow, the BG II game manual says just bow, and this site under races it states long bow. Now I know that crossbows are right out but will my elf fighter/mage get the +'s with any bow?

Elves in BG2 get +1 to hit with long swords and long bows only.
