Not a big one for patience, are you?

Try the manual, I think it gives a description there.

If you really did have charisma super low (like 5 or less) from my experience (take what you will), try a PC with high Charisma, it'll be a whole new world and set of dialogue.

The only example I can think of is the C.C slavers quest, Lithi....(the owner) didn't trust me (due to low charisma) and wouldn't let me have a look at the 'alternative' entertainment.

Charisma is really pointless in my opinion (especially with ring available immediatley) and doesn't affect the story line a great deal. Use those stats on more important areas, although you'll have to put up with ring swapping a lot.

  • Strength: affects total weight allowance, damage in melee, chances to hit with a melee weapon and may affect hurled missile weapons
  • Dexterity: affects Armour Class, chances to hit with missile weapons, raises Thieving points approximately by 5 points for every point in Dexterity (not too sure, though)
  • Constitution: affects how soon your character will become intoxicated, when consuming alcohol, also affects how fast you lose HP when poisoned/saves vs. poison
  • Intelligence: affects total number of spell slots for a mage
  • Wisdom: affects number of bonus spells, a priest receives
  • Charisma: affects encounter roll (i.e. the way others will treat you/perceive you) and prices in stores. The party leader's Charisma will also influence morale.

@nba_brown: There should be tables at the back of the manual, that tell you what the attributes do, too.

With low morale, you're party is much easier affected by fear effects. Moreover, at a certain point, when facing a very dangerous enemy, when the party's taking serious damage,... morale may even break and some of your party members will turn "yellow". Your PC normally isn't affected by the latter form of fear, but may still be affected by a Fear spell.

Only if you make him the group leader (move his portrait to the top), IIRC.
EDIT - In all fairness, I must admit that I haven't had morale break quite as often as in Baldur's Gate I (Khalid anyone?), but that probably has to do with a lot of the Mind Shield and Charisma-enhancing items in BGII.
