Arkanis and his items

First of all sorry if there already should exist a thread like this in the forum. I used a search on Arkanis, but didn't really find the information I was looking for.

Now, what I want to know is if you're able to collect Arkanis Gath's überitems once you kill him with the intelligence drain ability. Also, do you gain any experience for doing this and will this mess up the game that much so you wont be able to complete it?

I strongly recommend not taking down Arkanis.

If only until after you wiped out Bodhi.

Transformation into mindflayer then intelligence drain or wisdom drain from the Wakisha blade that can be bought from the Copper Coronet couple both of these with contagion or feeblemind etc might be able to take him down if your interested.

You gain little in the way of experience I imagine, he is just an average theif with a un-average sword and armor after all. You should be able to keep his items.

What I don't understand is how he has such mediocre items but kills every party member in the group with one hit.

I tried the Mind Flayer thing and it works, but one of my party members was a sacrifice to lure him.

Did Arkanis actually drop items though Berethor? From what I understand he's supposed to have a +10 sword or something.

for me it was a lousy +1 something not sure if it was long sord or short..

Erm Berethor, that +1 Long Sword has a insta-kill hit on it that can kill any creature regardless of what damage the sword does or what hp they may have.

Well... You can also just CLUA his sword with "killsw01" and check it out. Funny when you want to solo the whole game in 10 minutes.

True you could - but here's the catch, if you kill Arkanis for it then you actually deserve having the sword because you earned it - killing that guy is no piece of cake.

But the strategies mentioned above sure help.

But doesn't he also own a necklace or helmet which make him invulnerable to fysical attacks?

By the way which race does Arkanis belong to? Might there be any connection between this Arkanis and the one you could pick up as an NPC from Candlekeep in BG1?

Arkanis can be killed by the methods mentioned above and most likely others that I could test out but can't until next month - exams ya kno.

No their is no relation. Arkanis from BG1 was a dwarf fighter that helped you out in the against Obe's llusions and the Candlekeep Catacombs, the Arkanis in question now is a fighter/theif in Athkatla working for the Shadow Thieves.
