4th Item in smelly water....

I have the hand, the ring, and the staff, but I am missing the other item to get the sword out of the smelly water....can you give me an idea about what it is???

Hint: have you met someone who has a really nasty friend/pet?

I was stuck there for a while as well on my first time, which puzzled me somewhat, too.

By the way, it's really funny when you get there on your second game, with all the items cheated on your characters from the end of the previous game. If you have the quest reward on you, the beggar jumps right away to the solution of the quest in his dialog! http://www.gamebanshee.com/ubb/wink.gif

Thank you for your help! I try not to get hints too often but sometimes I find it close to impossible to figure out what I should do.
The good thing about Shadows of Amn is also the most difficult. You have so many more choices that I often find myself jumping from quest to quest. I hope that I don't miss out by doing this, but my characters are often not strong enough to defeat the bad guys so....
Anyway, thank you for the help!
