My party is all female(except for Minsc). (Note: I haven't finished BG yet)

Minsc: Level 6 Ranger, currently carries a Spider's Bane, Battle Axe +1, and a Composite Long Bow +1 and is wearing Full Plate Armor, Gauntlets of Weapon Expertise, a Cloak of Protection +1, and The Paws of the Cheetah(Boots of Speed). He usually charges into battle while the rest the party lays down cover fire.

Elysia Moonstar(me): Chaotic Good, Half-Elf, Level 6 Ranger, Strength-18/58, Dexterity-15, Consitution-18, Intelligence-12, Wisdom-14, Charisma-12, She uses The Army Scythe(Light Crossbow of Speed), Short Bow +1, and has Kondar(Bastard Sword +1, +3 vs. Shapeshifters) for when Melee is necessary and wears Full Plate Armor, Elves' Bane(Girdle of Piercing), Ring of the Princes(Ring of Protection +1), and Senses of the Cat(Boots of Avoidance).

Viconia: Level 7 Cleric, uses a Sling +1 and has Ashideena(War Hammer +2) for when melee is necessary and wears Ankheg Plate Armor, Honorary Ring of Sune(Ring of holiness), Tolos' Gift(Boots of Grounding), Gift of Peace(Helmet of defense) and carries the Shield of the Falling Stars(Large Shield +1, +4 vs. missiles).

Imoen: Level 7 Thief, will not be dual-classed because she's the perfect pickpocketer and lock picker( ), She uses Protector of the Dryads(Eagle Bow) and carries The Whistling Sword(Short Sword +2) for melee and wears Shadow Armor, Whispers of Silence(Cloak of Non-Detection), and Worn Whispers(Boots of stealth). Her entire set up weighs 19lbs. Lightweight, ne?

Coran: Level 6/6 Fighter/Thief, She carries The Dead Shot(Long Bow of Marksmanship) and a Long Sword +1. She wears the Girdle of Femininity, Protector of the Second(Leather Armor +2), and Cloak of Balduran.

Dynaheir: Level 6 Invoker, Dexterity at 18 because of The Brawling Hands(Guantlets of Dexterity), She uses her spells(Magic Missile, Mirrored Image, Lightning Bolt, and Fireball), Sling +1, Aule's Staff(Quarter Staff +3), and The Victor(Ring of Energy). She wears Evermemory(Ring of Wizardry), The Protector(Necklace of Protection +1), Destroyer of the Hills(Girdle of Bluntness), The Frost's Embrace(Boots of the North), Cloak of Displacement, and Robe of the Good Archmagi.

That's 2 Rangers, 1 Cleric, 1 Thief, 1 Fighter/Thief, and 1 Mage.

Shar-Teel was in my party; but she left, probably because my reputation is Heroic(20).

Branwen: Shes jus a cleric, nothin special
Khalid: Jaheria had an unexpected accident....but hes good fighter

Well, I'm very impressed with all the different versions of the powerful party. I epsecially liked the breakdown of who was used most often - hat helps with this decision. Behold...

Yeah, I'm light on fighters and mages and way heavy on thieves. So what? People can solo this game and that must entail some serious deficiencies. Besides - I've never used these guys before. Should be fun. The downside is that most of these people are late in the game, so I'll have to either go it alone for a while or use other people. I just started this game and it's still me and Imoen in Beregost.

I think I may pick up Xan for a while just to have a mage, but I think I can manage the rest.

(my character had the picture of Tiax and when he joined my party for bout 3 sec he had the picture of a female)

tried to do an evil party but as soon as i got edwin no other npc would join me

i just dropped Garrick: bard (my early mage like character) for Alora (great for getting into locked chest).

my bg2 team consists of the following (only went through once including tob)

minsc: ranger (funny as hell)
Nalia:thief/mage (hell of a mage at higher levels)
Jaheira: fighter/druid (dropped her in tob for Aerie: cleric/mage who i got pissed off at me early in Soa)
Imoen: thief/mage (another high powered mage)
(6th character i switched frequently; cernd, valygar, anomen and then for tob i went with Serevok)

Well, it's my first time through BG --I haven't finished it yet-- but I think it's better from my first party in BG2 where my PC was a sorceress, giving me a lot of pain in a city where magic was prohibited.

No, you´re wrong. The Cleric and the Druid are sub-classes to the Priest. On the other hand, when looking to the spell selection of the Druid in BG 1 I would almost agree with you.
