Another question: does detroying them mean Baldurs Gate is reachable?

I'll point you in the right direction... I'm asuming you've finished the Nashkel Mines. Now read the letters that were in the chest in Mulahey's chambers.

you won't be able to reach BG after the Bandit Camp. It's gonna be later.

If you didn't get it with the letters you get from Mulahey you will get the location when you're back in Beregost, where you'll meet an old friend and an new lucrative one.

BC is in the north east area and you'll have to go through another quest to get to BG
