Thinkin about playing again...

IT's been a while since I've played BG. I had to buy the original saga a while back because one of my 5 disks got scratched. I've soloed jsut about everything and wanna go through with a party of maybe 4 MAX. Any suggestions. The only NPC's I refuse to use are Khalid, Jaheira, Minsc, Dynaheir, Xzar, and tha druid in cloakwood. She sucks. Any suggestions for a colorful party that's pretty powerful as well? I was thinking of having a PC fighter since that's something I've pretty much stayed away from in the past. Dunno why, I just did. Any suggestions.

I'd go with Edwin, Coran and Yeslick then. Mage, fighter/thief and fighter/cleric. Dont know if it's the colour you'd like, but it'd be really powerful up in the levels.

I've never played through any of the BGs with a fighter, and I've played them through a lot. Seems boring to me, for some reason.

Well I started a game this morning and just couldn't stop playing. I ended up with: PC CN Fighter(axes(eventually the +2 returning axe, bows), Monty(Shortsword +2, light crossbow), Viconia(just got her cause i needed a healer bad... going through too many potions and she adds colour, and she get's to use Bassilus' hammer), and Edwin(he get's Sillke's staff). I'm gonna head for Dynaheir(to kill her), and then to nashkel mines next.

I play just about every game where I have a party with Kivan and Coran, so I wanted to try something new. And I've never finished with any of the three(Monty, Viccy, or Edwin) I have now. Although when I played through BGII the first time I had a PC F/T, Haer'Dalis(Bard), Viccy, and Edwin. It turned out pretty well, so I figured I'd try 'em in BG. I just got Viccy and Edwin so we'll see how this goes. And I usually play a PC spellcaster of some sort so a fighter is also sorta a change for me. Maybe next time when I play a goody goody party I'll grab Yeslick. I've never taken him very far. He's kinda like a dwarven paladin of sorts with his LG alignment, and I think he's got a specal ability of some sort. Anyway, there's always next time.

yes, yelick has got special ability. dispel magic. very useful in BG1, did not find it the best spell in BG2. Dunno why exactly. i think i opted for brute force in the end

I find i quite good in BG2. When fighting the Beholder in Ust Natha and Anoman was Dire Charmed and was about to attack all the Drow When Keldorn used Dispel Magic on him. It can get you out of some sticky situations see.

yes it can, i prefered to dowload the bonus merchants and buy the shield of Balduran for the Beholder. it reflects any of their rays. you are right about dispel magic, it can be helpful, especially after a battle where your people can get held and you are wanting to release them.
