I soloed most of the game with my fighter, I just stocked up on alot of healing potions etc. I also had all my skill points into bows since bows were really good then. I remember getting criticals for over 40 with bows.
After a while I got bored and added a mage, then I made a complete party.
There are very few mages, and they didn't have many powerful spells.

I soloed a Elven F/T thru BG w/o cheating in any way. One great trick for tough battles is using a Prot. from Magic scroll and arrows of detenation. Thats how I beat Sarevok.

i never thought soloing bg1 without capkill was possible, anyone have tried it with a mage? it looks impossible in the begginning it may get better in the middle of the game since you will have maxed the xp cap but when you reach chapter4/5 it will be impossible, and in the battle with sarevok? a level 7 mage against sarevokand his party of level 9 + mages tasok , sarevok alone would be impossible because of his magic resistance 100%

My favourite tactic in BG1 was to solo all the way up to about Cloakwood (Ch 4). It was harder but the rest of the game became much easier and more enjoyable as a result - the protagonist levelled up heaps by that point, and you could pick and choose where you wanted to explore instead of crawling all over the Sword Coast in a desperate quest for XPs. These games were shorter as a result - 40 to 50 game days as opposed to 90 - 100.

Are you kidding? Soloing with a mage would be by far the easiest way to solo! Why? those ubiquitous wands of monster summoning and summoning spells. Who needs to fight sarevok in hand to hand when your literal hordes of monsters can do it for you!

I soloed with a paladin 3 times (not TotSC)... Ok, I had the EXP cap removed, so in the end he had 500,000 EXP and outrageous stats due to finding all those tomes 3 times

With Boots of Speed, Spider Bane, Arrows of Detonation and loads of Potions I took out Drizzt, Sarevok and everything that gave me a bad look Even Thoug Drizzt took quite some time
