New location for Gauntlets of Wep. Exp. *Spoiler*

1) In Chapter 3, go to Peldvale.
2) Talk to Raiken (in N. E. quadrant of map).
3) Ask to join. If you "scare" him, he accepts your offer. (Low charisma helps (tested), low reputation might also help (untested)). He will take you to the Bandit Camp.
4) Piss Tazok off so that he attacks you.
5) Kill Tazok without giving him a chance to surrender! Here are some methods:

-Doing a powerful backstab (4x-5x multiplier, 18/00-25 strength, 3-4 skill, +2 weapon, Fighter/Thief) can kill him in one hit. You may need to lower his life a bit or get a critical hit, even with a good Fighter/Theif, though.
-Get haste or a potion of speed, snipe him at a range and run.
-Use lots of summons.
-Cast Cloud Kill a few times, lure him into it, and go invisable.
-Get a party of archers to attack him, use one character to run in circles.
-Charm him and let him die

In additon to the Gauntlets of Weapon Expertise, he also gives two potions, Plate Mail, and 4000 exp.

New location for gauntlets of weapon expertise

As far as I knew, this was the only location where you could get them. Do you know of another location? I would be interested to know. Congratulations however on figuring it out for yourself. I had to do that, and it isn't at all obvious!

Spoiler second location

*******SPOILER********

There is also a pair owned by a guy claming to be the greatest swordsman on the sword coast. He is located in the top right corner off the firewine bridge screen. You have to pick a fight with him through dialog then kill him. He also has a +1 longsword.

Thanks for the link, I also found a light crossbow +1 that I didn't know about.

Going back to the main thread.
I can't see how you would have all that equipment or experience at that stage of the game. There are two ways that I have done it.
SPOILER Lead Tazok away from your party with a thief, fighter thief, etc.
Go into a tent. Hide. Go outside, backstab him and hide in another tent. Do this several times until he is almost at the point of accepting you into the group. Then before your last attack lead him to the tent where the fireball tent is. There are fewer bandits around there could get involved if they get burnt- then all of them get involve! When there are no bandits in the vicinity of Tazok, get to a place where he can't see you and use necklace of missiles, oil of fiery burning, potion of explosions etc. to finish him off. After each of these attacks it is wise to move away and hide so that he doesn't let you join. Eventually he dies. This method can be used for a solo thief, fighter thief etc. I suppose that it could also be done with a ranger but I haven't tried.
2nd method. First part: the same, second part: use arrows from maximum range and dash into a tent before he gives up. Repeat.
