Exporting to BG2

Just quick reminder for me please. What equipment will export with your character from BG1 to BG2?

It's a couple of years since I did this, and I'm currently wandering arround with a couple of characters with a view to exporting them. So rather than me trying to find all the expensive stuff like the necklaces worth 3000 gold coins, a reminder would be appreciated.

Also I know not much in the way of swords etc will export but will magic rings and the like transfer just so I can sell them and get a decent sword or axe.

Thanks

Without using exploits: Only the golden pantaloons. [Edit: looking at spaceman's list it seems i have been misinformed]

And if you intent to use the exploit, why not simply use shadowkeeper to add the items/gold you wish to take with you.

Thanks for the link, well worth a look.

Just one last thought, I seemed to think that the Rogue stones and the bergriel stone (or however you spell it) exported as I seem to recall selling the rogue stone for a wad of cash. Will have to wait till weekend when character should be ready to export.

I don't know if you're playing single or multiplayer mode, but to my surprise found that in multiplayer mode you can even import tomes! Thus you can create a character and use the tomes to make him/her with the same stats as if you had played BG1. You could actually make all the stats 25, but that would spoil the game completely in my opinion.

That's probably why then, as when I last did this was couple of years ago I took two characters from BG1 into BG2. I think I did it by creating a game on "Lan" multiplayer option then used this saved game in the single player option.

Basically I used the method in the "instructions book" that comes with the game that explains how to use more than one of your own characters.

But like you say not wanting to cheat too much I'll resist the option of taking an extra tome or two of strength for a fighter.

Yes, yes I imagine it would spoil the game a tad if you were too far on the tough side in the early stages. I have this rather nasty habit of doing way too much **** early on in the game so that my characters are way more powerful than intended at each stage of the actual main storyline, making it a tad on the unfun side with it being a touch too easy.

There is also a way of exprting in single player mode which some think is a bug. The way I look at it, normally Irenecus destroys your possessions when he casts the spells on you. If you get rid of them before that happens, they don't get destroyed. SPOILER To keep possessions press space bar followed by I. Drop possessions, return to main mscreen and unpause.
