Chest in the Duchal Palace

Hello everybody, how are you all today?

I was just wondering how you get into that chest in the basement of the Duchal Palace, because, by all accounts there is some rather nice stuff in there but it is one of those awkward type chests which you cant pick the lock of, you know, the warded variety.

These must be some way in or else how would people know what was in it, so I would be grateful if someone on here who's managed it could fill me in.

Thanks,
Spaceman

Knock spell? Not sure, I've never seen robbing the Duchal palace as a very good thing :P Though I suppose a chaotic good thief could persuade himself by saying "well, these rich, careless nobles certainly don't deserve it". :P

I'm sorry to say that Knock is not good here, it's one of those particularly cheeky type chests which is warded against simple spells.

You can rob the Duchel Palace without losing any reputation or attracting any nasty attention for the undesirables if you use that rather dandy magic cloak thing from the fat guy in Beregost to charm the Flaming Fist chappies before you go a-theiving. And as far as I'm concerned, if I dont stand to lose anything though some dirty business, there aint no moral dilemma

It's OK chaps, I have discover the explaination, dont-cha-know, and I will now endeavour to impart it. It just so happens that originally that chest was due to contain a magical item of rather incredible power but the chappies who made the game had the notion that such an item might somewhat inbalance the game, you get me, so they decided to remove it, however, and here's where the plot thickens, they didnt have time to alter that level at all or remove the video link, infact, all they could find the time to do was seal up the chest with the old aforementioned ward.

The only way you can get it open, if you be so inclined, it with certain patches of nature I do not know, and even then what you get is not the original superb item but just some other cool stuff of a valuable nature. Why they couldnt just change it to this and leave the chest unwarded is a touch beyond me, but hey, who can fathom the minds of these computer design fellows. Anyway, I apologise from the bottom of my heart for wasting your time with this now rather irrelevant thread, but hopefully the answers I have sought will enlighten some others?

It's quite simple--they didn't have enough time. As a matter of fact, they didn't have time to do a lot of things they wanted to do. That's just the nature of the computer game business.

Well the point I was making, old chap, was that they did spend the time to change the items in that little old chest in order for those clever patching fellows not to get the item either, so why then go on to seal up the chest, you know? Seems to me like they solved the problem twice.
