Bjornin bug?

I've compleated the quest for Bjornin (killed those half-ogres), still he is not giving me a reward, even when I brought the scalps.
Had I missed something or it something wrong with the game?

I had that little problem too, once. It turned out that I simply had forgotten to kill one half-ogre. Note, that the number of them may be different each time. I think that the Gamebanshee Walkthrough writes that there are five of them, though I experienced them also in groups of three or four.
I would suggest to go back there, killing them again, exploring every piece of the north-eastern part of that map, then returning to Beregost. If Bjornin still doesn't give you anything, then it might be a small bug. Though you're not really missing much: apart from the nice shield, the reputation point and the experience you achieve aren't that great.

I've had the exact same problem. I've completely scoured that map with the half-ogres several times and ripped them to shreds, but the stupid paladin still won't recognize my actions. This is the first game I've encountered it in, though, and I've played through countless times with no problem. I think it might be either a little bug, or I'm killing the wrong set of critters.

If you are getting scalps from them, you may be in the wrong area. Bjornin gives you the reward when you have killed them, but they don't drop scalps. It is Officer Vai who buys the scalps of bandits (she is in that same inn as Bjornin.)

The area you need to be in is the same one where Drizzt is found, two maps south of the High Hedge.

From what I remember, there were no scalps on the half-ogres you need to kill. I think the leader says he wants all your iron and/or gold.

The reward should be a Medium Shield +1 and Reputation +1, so if you want the shield you could pickpocket Bjornin. He may even even give out a second shield if you complete the quest

I've tried that, but it never works. I get the reputation point increase, but never another medium shield +1. I'm always certain I've killed the right half-ogres, but the stupid paladin just won't give me credit. Maybe he wants it for himself...greedy paladins...

Eventually you get swamped in magical Medium Shields anyway

As for reputation increases there are plenty in the game to avoid the Bjornin quest.

From what I remember the ogres that Bjornin want dead are between a couple of large hills in the top left corner of one of the maps. I'm not sure which one but it should be somewhere in the walthrough

No, those are different ogres. The ones you want are the half-ogres SSW of Beregost.

@Erenor: If your are getting the reputation & XP, I can't imagine why you aren't getting the shield as well. You have clearly completed the quest, so I don't know what else you could try.

Have you talked to the guy upstairs who is afraid of Bjornin? I don't think that is a necessary component of the quest, but I always do it so it may be connected. Also, what is your alignment? It may be that Bjornin only gives the shield to Good characters? I am grasping at straws here.

Perhaps this does not pertain to your game, but sometimes you just need to rest for a day, and then Bjornin will be in a different position and ready to give you your reward.

I don't know, but I've finished the guest again, a few days ago. Just killed the Half-Ogres and went via the 'Melicamp the Talking Chicken'area and the High Hedge to Beregost and spoke to Bjornin. That's all there's too it, so perhaps there is a small bug in your game. But once again: doesn't really matter. Makes you even more honorable (in your own sweet heart) when you keep it to yourself and refuse any rewards. The Chosen One indeed!
