Although not officially announced yet, several sources claim that Baldur's Gate III is indeed "in the works", including the most reputable gaming magazine on the planet - PC Gamer.

This would be great, but maybe i'm wrong... i thought i've heard this a year ago too, but ever since never saw any screenshots or news about this

If there is to be a Baldur's Gate 3, it won't be by Bioware at least according to their forums. It is discussed there also they know of no BG3.
I believe Atari now has the rights to the game so it may be by them.
