walk bug?

My main character walks instead of running..
he has none encumbrance.
i put him to sleep.
i dont know what is wrong
he is only running when he is heading toward a highlighted object.
Anyone knows how i can fix this?

How about that he reads the manual that came with the game? It's not that hard. Most of us around here had to read it themselves.
