training for NPC's

Is it possible to pay for training for NPC's? For instance, Virgil has two points in melee but no training.

It is impossible to train NPC's unless you have the educator background, in which case training is automatic.

Your follower cannot be an apprentice, nor an expert, nor a master of any skill levels unless you are an educator. I believe your character cannot be master even f you are an educator since they are always one step behind.
