Technologist Equip.

What would be the best equipment for a firearms dwarf? I think:

-Helmet: Goggled Helmet(6 AC, 9 DR, 3 PE, 70 WE, 120 QU)

-Torso: Machined Plate(25 AC, 38 DR, 20 PR, 20 FR, -10 ER, -90 NP, 1000 WE, 600 QU, +3 ST)

-Gloves: Mysterious Dwarven Gauntlets(3 AC, 5 DR, 7 BHD, 15 WE, 100 QU +1 ST, +1 CN, +2 DX for dwarves)

-Shield: Flow Disruptor Shield(30 AC, 30 MR, 90 WE, 20 QU)

-Weapon: Droch's Warbringer(20-40 HD, 1-10 FT, 15 RNG, 10-10 ED, 1 A, 8 SP, 80 WE, 80 QU)

-Boots: Fine Stout Boots(8 DR, 20 WE, 100 QU) // Metal Boots(10 DR, -10 NP, 50 WE, 120 QU)

Now, I was wondering this equip for my dwarf, but i think there's a better one. What do you think, and, WHAT THE HELL IS "NP"?

NP = Noise Penalty I think, it's certainly a reference to a penalty for stealth, logical really, pretty hard to sneak in full clanking armour.

The only problem with the Warbringer is the game's almost over when you get it.

The overriding problem with the equipment listed is encumbrance of course, unless you have 20 strength the encumbrance is likely to be counteracting the effectiveness of the armour. One of the most time consuming aspects of Arcanum as I recall was the perpetual inventory management to keep your encumbrance out of the red.

dwarven start with 9 st, the dwarven gauntlets give +1 st, and the machined plate adds +3 st; in the end, the blessing of a god adds +1 in st, reaching 14. It would not be worthless adding some point to st in order to avoid encumbrance... NP... uhm, and what does np affect? does np slow pc-actions? does np add % of critical fail?
However, before you get the warbringer you can use the hand-cannon, or tesla-gun(but you lose the slot for the shield =( )

As I tried to explain in my last post, NP screws up any attempt to Prowl, they would be able to hear you coming no matter what your skill level efectively. Not really relevent to your guy I suspect, I doubt your trying to be a rogue like character with all the ironmongery, your character must look like a perambulating iron foundry.

If you're looking to go high end prowl with your firearms, you won't really need the shield since it will take the enemy a long time to find you. At times they won't even move due to the fact that they can't find you. IF you happen to stick to the route with the large armor, I suggest using a speed potion to get as much action points going as possible. Great thing about speed potions is that they're cheap and technology aptitude doesn't affect it.

I forgot to mention if you decide to master disarm with your character you can also use the trapmaker spectacles. Those are nice for the +2 dex as well.
