Bandits at Shrouded Hills

Did you search the bodies? The key is with Lukin. If you can't see the body press and hold an Alt key and click on a body, it will move toward you. If the body wont move you're too far away step forward at repeat the move process. This move process is very usefull if you're looking for gold throughout the game.

Two skills a party should have in this game is lockpick ability and repair ability. The spell Unlocking Cantrip is usefull to a mage. Repair can be done by anyone earning Intellgence. Getting expert repair is easy using the junk dealer in Tarant.

Lockpicking

Yes destroying the container will work here but else where the guards will come and kill you for that. You must have lockpick ability to get access to all parts of the game. e.g the gold ring part of the Tarant sewer has a metal access that leads to a chest with 1500 in gold. The door can be broken open but at a cost of weapons (the damage they recieve). You need repair ability to continue to do this.

Or fight everyone and lose ability to shop in towns.

Lock Picking

Please see my other postings on lock picking.

Lockpicks can sometimes be found in the garbage outside of the black market house towards the bridge...outside the flop house. I forget the other places besides the black market that sell them, but the orc thieves of Tarant occasionally have them. Of course you can't take them on consitently until you have 5 or 6 guys and a level of 15 or more.

Lockpicking using the Unlock Cantrip is only good for a full mage because the spell depends on your magic aptitude...it must exceed the difficulty of the lock.

Virgil can only lockpick occasionally. Don't rely on him. Also, the Skeleton picks don't seem to work for him.

Get yourself a throwing weapon because (a) if you use that from far enough away, a glitch in the game makes the person near the lock fail to notice you destroying the lock (b) throwing weapons do not seem to take damage from the impact with the object (another glitch).

You should unequip all weapons when bashing a door. In fact, you should or hit F5 to keep your followers from attacking the door and damaging their weapons.

Finally, you should note that you can leave most locks and come back once you have Sebastian and the lockpicks that Magnus can make...if you can remember all the locked locks.

When all else fails...raise you lockpicking and then lower it with the character editor when you find sebastian. Ok..commence the assault...I advocated cheating.

Magic and Lockpicking

A mage may take a long time to get lock pick skill using Unlocking CanTrip. However the game kindly provides a way to trade 20 points of Alignment for +20 point towards Magic on the magic/tech meter. You can buy the Helm rarely at any outlying Shop or obtain one by battling inside the Haunted Castle in Ashbuty. The helm is worn by the Necro in the lowest part of the dungeon. Every time to put on this helm you get the 20/20 swap thereby pumping up your magic to make spellls more effective. I use the helm for all magic users in my team. It makes Virgil more effective at healing and Raven is more effective with her water spells. However techs should not use the helm.

For game players that want to spend there points else where remember there are a total of 64 points. Seleted skill will need some base skill points and speific skill points. Set up and Need/Wants table with points distributed as appropriate. Constantly check the total never exceeds 64. Excel spreadsheet or equivalant is good for this or hand drawn as I did. So start a new game and have your spreadsheet handy. Or Excel on Alt-Tab. Never use Auto-level .
