There's a bug with the arachnid as well.
Be aware that Virgil will mostly try to heal you, which will fail.
These are the skills my technologist invested in:
Electrical, at least 2 for those rings. (Pretty much a must, especially in the beginning.)
Gunsmithing all the way.
Idem for Armoursmithing.
Dodge all the way.
Firearms all the way.
Perception up to 18 or 20.
Dex up to 20. (And keep the rings, more dex is always good.)
Int up to 19. (Can be kept lower, if you drink a potion of intellect before learning the final level schematics.)
3-5 skills in healing.
Some points in Str, for carrying all those bullets and bandages.

This will keep you busy for most of the 50 levels, but it certainly works.

Sooo much to do in this great game. Technologists really get hit in the pocket. Bullets, batteries or fuel - but man oh man, when you get your first HIGH damage gun, the struggle is so worth it. I really love this engine and the amazing possibilites. I still need (I do mean NEED btw!) to make a summoner as well as the 'Paladin' heavy melee light necrotic white.

I could go on and on about this game, but it is getting OT. Point being, the tech healing path is expensive and harder than magic, but the game is good enough to love that challenge.

If you get the bullet schematic and check wastebins regularly, the tech isn't soooo expensive.
I rather feel that the game is balanced for techies, but way too easy for magicians.
