Glitch? Wheel Clan - access to Dredge

I'm on my second time through Arcanum and I've spoken with Randver (king-in-waiting) HOWEVER, he did not show me the secret passage and the guard will still not allow me access to the Dredge.
I've tried going back and speaking to Randver several times, but nothing changes. I read something that it may have to do with your Intelligence stat, but mine is at 12 currently...

Any suggestions or is this just a bug?

You need a lot more intelligence than twelve to unlock the dialog that gets you axcess to Loghaire(sp?), but you shouldn't have any trouble getting permission to access the Dredge.

All I can suggest is going back to a save before talking to Randver and drinking an intelligence boosting potion before talking to him.

IIRC, you only need IN of 11, and one (possibly two) ranks in Persuasion.

When talking to Randver... (Spoilers follow)

...make sure you get him talking about Lorek, then follow up with the conversation about the Stone and the Shape. Then you'll be able to trick him into admitting he sees his father almost daily.

i have never been able to get into the dredge through the proper entrance with randver's permission myself, but i just use the entrance from loghaire's little cave instead. however, even when i do come out of the dredge on the other side, that stupid guard still won't let me back in. not really a problem, but i've never gotten permission to get past that guard.
