Followers & schematics

A short question: Can your followers learn found schematics? I got Magnus in my party and the pyro-axe schematic, so I was wondering if I can somehow get him to learn that schematic.
Thanks in advance.

No, they can't.

Darn.

Well, I guess I'll have to use the character editor then.

You can buy the books in Tarant University which can raise your scores of disciplines by 5 each when they are in your inventory. You can get pyro-axe
by yourself, however, you can find this item is useless because it is too slow. In my opinion, at the early stage, balance sword is the best weapon, especially you play in the turn based or fast turn based mode

The frustrated thing in this game is that the NPCs only can learn 4 schematics in every disciplines. Therefore, for some items you had to spend some your charater points in the certain discipline. For instance, the best gun in the game is telsa gun that combined with elephant gun and telsa rod.
You can find some elephant when you venture in the game, however, you had to spend 7 charater points in electricity discipline for this item.

Actually, the pryo-axe is IMO one of the best melee weapons in the game. It deals 40-50 damage every time, and if you're a Backstab expert, you get 60-80 damage per hit.
BTW, I'm playing as a mage character, so I was trying to get Magnus learn the schematic and give him an Explosives manual to make one, but no dice.

I didn't quite get this. I used to have over 4 learned schematics in some disciplines (particularly mechanics and smithy).

Possibly you already know this, after you buy 3 smith manuals and 1 chemistry manual (750 each) from the drawf in tarant university, put feather-weight axe and fuel in your inventory, and already learned the pryo-axe schematic, you can make the pryo-axe, even you are a mage with 100 magic apt.

I mean, if NPCs learned all the schematics in one disciplines, I can make all the items from the founded schematics. Therefore, when I played as a gunfighter, I do not need to increase my IN and waste any character point in the disciplines and concentrate other important points

Occasionally, I did a test about the power of guns to the people in the boil. The telsa gun had the best result, and second is the blade laucher. I am not sure the accuacy of result but at that time I decided use tesla gun

Yeah, I've already done so, got one pyro axe for Magnus and one for me.

Ah, now I get it. The Tesla gun spends less ammo than the blade launcher (I think 4 charges compared to 6 bullets) and it's very efficient against golems and such.

I found the Looking-Glass Rifle quite effiecient. It packs a lot of damage, is a bit slow but uses only one bullet per shot.

Since I prefer style over efficience I played with the Long Range Pistol until I got the Droch's Warbringer schematic.

First of all, welcome to Gamebanshee, dirtman.

As for the looking-glass rifle, its 40/40 damage is actually a game bug that's fixed in the official patch, so the damage it deals reduces to about 20/10 (maybe slightly more, I'm not sure), but it's still a fairly good weapon, at least until you get the Warbringer.

Damn.

I recently installed my copy of Arcanum again and while browsing the internet I found out about the patch. So I haven't played with the patch yet...

Thanks for welcoming me.
