My character is a mage. Should I spend points in the Lockpicking skill?

It's under the technological skills so I'm not sure if my mage will be actually use it properly, and since those points are scarce I want to use them wisely.

Wow...a new thread.
Well, I wouldn't use any attribute points on the lockpicking skill if you are a mage, unless you're planning on building a sort of hybrid character. Other characters will help you when holding lockpicks, if I remember correctly. Or you could use the unlocking cantrip; it correlates with your magic aptitude, so I wouldn't put any points into any tech related skills for that purpose. Then again, the spell is very loud and attracts lots of attention.

It's been quite a while since I've played, but I'd say to make use of the npcs for unlocking doors/chests, unless you want to open the really difficult things, in which case I would recommend a thief (if you haven't tried that already). It's really fun prowling about during the night opening locks. Sneaky sneaky.

I'm sorry, but 10-4? Would you care to enlighten me?

Sorry.

10-4 is used in radio communication. It means "agreed".

I have noticed a cute little bug with the program.

If I tell all my followers to wait for me about 2 screens away from whatever chest or door I am trying to open, I can take up position at the very edge of a Chakarum throwing distance and then bust open a chest from there.

Even if a person is standing right next to the chest (the Panari temple) he doesn't hear it. It was the only way I could get the necklace at the temple and the book THE HAND.

Virgil hardly ever opens something successfully (even with the tech lockpicks) and the cantrip depends on your magic aptitude. I prefer to walk the line between magic and tech. I like my Pyrotecknic Axe, my Magic Chakarum, and my Entangle Spell.
