Workshop not working

I know this may sound pathetic, but I can't seem to add any gems to my weapons from my inventory. I have the correct weapon grade with no other magical items attached. I have rune stones. I have gems. When I enter workshop and choose an item to upgrade, only the runestones I possess show up to be added, no gems. I can add the rune stones, then I'm stuck. No other options but to "make" or "back"; "add", says no gems selected. What am I missing?

You have to add the rune stones first. Then the next step will show you your gems. You just haven't gone quite far enough. You can put the gems in and see the stats without making it when you do this. Quite helpful to see what you want to make and when you should wait for more or different gems.
